In 2015, my husband and I had our first baby. We ventured together into a world of diapers, early bedtimes and children’s books. As it is for many families, it was also a time that we discussed and thought a lot about the families we grew up in. We realized there were so many of our family stories we wanted our kids to know from a very young age. Stories of family members passed who our children would never have the privilege to meet.
As we dug into it, we learned that hearing family stories has shown positive outcomes in the development of children. They have a stronger sense of identity, more confidence and are able to better deal with the ups and downs of life.
The idea for Cuento Books was born. We want to make it as easy as possible for families to share the stories of their ancestors with their little ones through original, beautifully illustrated children’s books. At the end of the day, our goal is to strengthen your family by helping you pass on triumphs, challenges and what makes your family unique.
Why the name 'Cuento Books'?
'Cuento' is the Spanish word for 'story' or 'folklore'. My husband and I both have Latin American heritage and were excited to incorporate that part of our heritage into the name.
